Whether you are a First Nations community, treatment centre, or health authority seeking an experienced facilitator, Shane provides professional, trauma-informed support tailored to the unique journey of Indigenous men.

About me

My name is Shane Kelly. I am from Séma:th, a Stó:lō community. I have been walking the recovery path for 18 years.I hold a Bachelor of Social Work, but my deepest education came from sitting in circles, learning from Elders and knowledge keepers, and listening to other people on their healing journeys. I continue to learn from them today. My three-tier system—Survival, Building, Integration—came directly from my own recovery. I learned that I needed to heal from trauma and addiction before I could learn boundaries. I needed boundaries before I could fix my failed relationships, my unsatisfying dating life, and my social anxiety. I needed all of that before I could become bold, motivated, and able to ask for help. There is an order to healing. You cannot skip steps. In early recovery, what kept me going was watching other people live fun, joyous, sober lives. I saw that a fulfilling life free from substances was possible. I wanted what they had.I work primarily with Indigenous men because I understand feeling lost in identity. I understand the hurt, the pain, and the trauma of our historic impacts. Too many of our men are emotionally shut off, stuck in survival mode. But I am also open to working with allies who are committed to their own healing and to supporting Indigenous resurgence. One teaching has stayed with me: everyone has a gift, and it is important to find what that is. I help men uncover their gifts.I facilitate support groups rooted in Stó:lō teachings and the 7 Laws—not as a replacement for AA or Wellbriety, but as a complement to them. Our communities heal one person at a time. The more individuals who do this hard work, the more our communities will thrive.I bring knowledge of both Western systems and our Stó:lō world. I help bridge the gap. Here is what I want you to know: You can unlock the best version of yourself. It requires looking at the hard parts you do not want to look at. But you do not have to do it alone.
